Your Hygge Escape
on Hood Canal

Fjordhjem (Norwegian for "Fjord Home") sits 300 feet above Hood Canal (which is, in fact, a fjord!) with Olympic Mountain views that'll make you want to stay on the deck all day. It's the kind of place where your only agenda is coffee in the morning, maybe a hike if you feel like it, and definitely some time around the fire pit at night.

The cabin sleeps 7 with two bedrooms, a pull-out sofa, and two full bathrooms. Fully stocked kitchen, lots of blankets, and everything you need to either adventure hard or do absolutely nothing. Your call.

Fresh oysters harvested from Hood Canal

Harvest Fresh Oysters

At low tide, walk down to Twanoh Falls State Park and harvest oysters straight from the canal. Shuck them right there on the beach with the mountains watching. Bring hot sauce and lemon — trust us.

Kayaking on Hood Canal at sunset

Get Out on the Water

Twanoh State Park and Union Marina are close by when you want to kayak. Early mornings are glassy calm, sunsets are unbeatable. No rush, no agenda — just you and the mountains reflecting in the water.

Wildlife Watching

Bald eagles nest nearby and fish the shoreline almost daily. This area is also home to many seals and even the resident orca pods will make their way into the inner hook of the fjord! So grab your coffee and binoculars — the back deck has front-row seats for all of this and more!.

Salmon in pristine water during spawning season

Watch the Salmon Run

During spawning season, take the short hike to Twanoh Falls and watch thousands of salmon fight their way upstream. It's powerful stuff, and definitely worth the walk.

Tucked Away,
But Not Too Far

The cabin feels remote but you're close to everything. Grocery stores, restaurants, trails, and beaches are all within 10-15 minutes. The best of both worlds.

Twanoh Falls State Park (5 min)

Beach access, oyster harvesting, swimming, salmon runs, and forest trails. The waterfall hike is quick and beautiful. You'll probably visit every day.

Union & Alderbrook Resort (10 min south)

Charming small town with that classic Hood Canal vibe. Alderbrook Resort (open to everyone) has waterfront dining, craft cocktails, spa treatments, and beautiful grounds. Perfect for a nice dinner out.

Belfair (10 min north)

Grocery stores (Safeway, QFC, Grocery Outlet), local restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops. Everything you need to stock the fridge or grab food on the go.

Lake Cushman (20 min)

Beautiful alpine lake with campgrounds, boat launches, and swimming. Crystal clear water, mountain backdrop — makes for a great day trip.

Mt. Ellinor Trail (30 min)

One of the best hikes in the Olympics. Steep? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. Clear-day views stretch from Hood Canal to the Cascades. Wildflowers in summer, epic fall colors. Bring layers, start early.

Olympic National Park (45-60 min)

Multiple park entrances within reach. Hurricane Ridge for mountain views and marmots. Staircase for riverside trails and old-growth forest. Quinault for rainforest vibes. Enough day trips to keep you busy all week.
